Every year as high school students across the country begin to plan for their next years courses, many will have the option to take on a dual-enrollment class. Dual-enrollment classes allow high school students to attend classes at a local college and additionally earn college credit.

Earning college credit while still in high school sounds like a dream for many students. In addition, these programs introduce students to the rigors of college coursework early, and recent studies have shown that students who participate in dual-enrollment programs are more likely go on to get a college degree.

There are many benefits to dual-enrollment programs:
-High school students who complete dual enrollment classes that are accepted for graduation requirements could graduate early and get a head start in beginning their careers
-Allows students to get an early understanding what full-time college courses are like
-Save money on college tuition costs, which will reduce total student debt for college grads
-The dual enrollment classes high school students take may transfer to higher education institutions, depending upon the school
-Allow economically disadvantaged students the opportunity to take college level courses through state programs– an opportunity they might not otherwise have
At Heritage Montessori, we offer Dual Enrollment through Georgia State to give all high school students an opportunity to enroll in undergraduate courses. Students must enroll in Dual Enrollment and be enrolled in our high school to earn both high school and college credits. Students who enroll in our dual enrollment program get the extra boost they need to launch them into the real world. At Heritage Montessori, every high school student is encouraged to look into this program. Already being very independent, our students do very well in a College environment. They understand that doing the work is a self-motivated aspect and we, as teachers, challenge them of that every day in class. This program is offered to our high school students at Heritage Montessori.
